This year marks a significant milestone for the 5K@EASD community: 2020 is the 15th anniversary of Novo Nordisk’s support of the 5K@EASD. We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone in Vienna at the EASD 56th Annual Meeting. Together we will gather for a night run and walk through Vienna’s Prater Park.

Prater Park is an ideal location for citizens of Vienna and EASD delegates to raise public awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle in preventing and controlling diabetes. Located just a short walk from Vienna’s Reed Messe, Prater Park welcomes the return of the 5K@EASD community for the first time since 2014.

Together, we will run and walk for the more than 640,000 people in Austria who have diabetes.* For those who will join the 5K@EASD community for the first time in 2020, we have 8 week training plans for both running and walking available to help you get started.

Global community for change
Starting with the 2014 5K@EASD in Vienna, EASD delegates and public participants were able to support World Diabetes Foundation projects on three continents through the purchase of the 5K@EASD runner shirt. This fundraising program has raised over €60,000 for the WDF Projects in Mali (2014), Peru (2015), Myanmar (2016), Rwanda (2017), Kenya (2018) and Jordan (2019). This year, the 5K@EASD runner shirt program is supporting the WDF Kyrgyzstan project. For more information, please click here.

Over 1,100 people from 98 countries completed the 5K@EASD last year in Barcelona. This year, we want to encourage even more to take part, so spread the word, follow the 5K@EASD on social media and bring your friends along for an evening run or walk.

We look forward to seeing you in Vienna.
